The One That Got Away

Monday was Valentine’s Day and I just couldn’t help getting a little reminiscent about “the one that got away” and how things might have been if we were still together. This is the post where all of the ex-boyfriends on Facebook will click over to see if I’m talking about them. Get over yourself, conceited, I’m not talking about you.

Many years back, I fell in love. I fell in love quick and I fell in love hard. It was truly love at first sight and I just knew that we were meant to be together forever. I wanted to spend all of my time with my love. I would spend any amount of money that it would take to be with my love as much as I could as often as I could. And then my love left me. Without warning, without reason, just…gone. I was confused and heartbroken. Was it something I did? Something I said? Was I coming on too strong? I guess I’ll never know.

Sometimes I go awhile without thinking about my love. Sometimes I miss my love so much it hurts. Why did things have to happen this way? Why can’t we still be together?

I haven’t seen my love since 2006. Here are the last photos I have of the two of us together. We look so happy 😦

Oh, Godiva Chocolate Raspberry Truffle ice cream…return to me! I already forgive you and I wait for you with open arms and a ready spoon.

I will always love you.

  1. SERIOUSLY JENN? WOW, I knew that you suffered from some sort of issues, but seriously, you had pictures taken of you with ice cream, SERIOUSLY, is the only word I am able to use to describe my thoughts on this subject. You are absolutely insane, for sure. I thought it was going in a much different direction than that, at 1st, and now I kind of wish that it had. You are odd. And I am proud to call you my sister. Keep being weird. It is surprisingly refreshing.

    • I’d think you’d be used to my weirdness by now. Yes, I took pictures of myself holding my favorite ice cream…and I guess that it’s a good thing that I did since I never saw it again 😦

  2. very cute story. I knew you could not be talking about some guy. We always tend to get over THAT kind of lost love, but a love for Ice Cream,, you NEVER loose that!

    • Nope, definitely not a guy! I shall never forget my Godiva ice cream…there’s none other like it. I’ve had this flavor at a few ice cream shops and it’s good…but nowhere near as good as the Godiva brand 😦

  3. Did they stop making that flavor, or is it just not sold where you live? I’ve never tried it, but you make it sounds so amazing. 🙂

    • As far as I know they stopped making Godiva ice cream altogether. They don’t have any flavors in the stores near me and I couldn’t find anything online. They do make some sort of ice cream balls now (but no Chocolate Raspberry Truffle) but you can only buy it at Godiva “boutiques” or something like that 😦
I read something somewhere that said they discontinued the ice cream because of problems with their distributor and they were working on bringing it back…but that was 3 years ago and still no ice cream 😦

Don’t worry about it! I’m so behind on everything I’ve kinda abandoned the 31dbbb for the time being. I hope to jump back in soon.

  6. Why do they get rid of the flavors we love so much? Torture, pure torture. 😉

  7. Since 2006? OMG, that’s a long time to be without a favorite ice cream. It’s a crime, really. You need to go get you something close to that Godiva ice cream and quick.

    • It’s terrible, isn’t it?!
They do sell a Chocolate Raspberry Truffle (not Godiva) at Handle’s and Bruster’s, it’s good…but nothing like the Godiva. Unfortunately last summer the last 3 times I went to those ice cream shops…they were all out! It’s a conspiracy, I tell you!

    • Thanks for stopping by, Candace!
I’m a little behind right now, so I’ll be stopping by your blog as soon as I can!

Turtle cheesecake, huh? Hubby and I went to the Cheesecake Factory last weekend and I had the dun, dun, dun…Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Cheesecake. It was so good! It’s still not ice cream, but it was definitely delish!

Ironically my first human true love was Kirk Cameron and his real life sister’s name is Candace 🙂 It would be decades later before I’d meet my Godiva love!

  10. OMG I didn’t know Godiva made ice cream!! I must find it.
It’s terrible when the ice cream gods capriciously withhold such wonderful flavours. I’m still in mourning for lost treasures such as Dirt’n’Worms, X-Mint, and Ebony and Ivory. Why, Baskin Robbins? Why?

  17. OMG, I just happened on this and am laughing out loud!! I fell in love with your love’s relative…white chocolate raspberry! I had a lot of health issues in 2005 & 2006 and it brought me so much happiness, even being brought to the hospital by my mom! Where oh where are you my beloved white chocolate raspberry? I pine for you until the day you return! 😉

  18. Every once in a while, I search/stalk the internets, to see if our love has miraculously been brought back for another round. At this point I would almost settle, for a taste out of the expiration date…by months. Please come back! So many of us need you, and so many virgins need to taste you for the first time.
