I Need a Blogcation

If you haven’t noticed, things have been a little slow around here the past week. Well, the problem is, you see, that I actually have a real life (sorta)…and I’ve been a little busy. I said that I’d never catch up after my trip to FL in January, and while I’ve been posting steadily…that’s turned out to be true. I’m so behind on things.

If you didn’t catch it on The Giant To Do List or my 101 Things in 1001 Days…my house is a mess. I have so much to do and so little time (and energy, and motivation) to do it. The clutter (while mostly hidden behind closed doors no one goes into) is starting to create mental clutter…which makes for one tired, stressed out, mommy (and is not the best for blogging either). I haven’t been sleeping well lately. I’ve struggled with insomnia through the years and had a few really bad nights last week. On top of this Adaline is still struggling with severe diaper rash and constipation issues. So, things haven’t been exactly fun or “cool” around the Cool House lately.

Cool Daddy and I are finally sick of the mess and we just have to do something about it. All of our spare time has to be devoted to conquering said mess…and it’s going to take a long time. This means that I’ll need to give up blogging (or at least reading blogs) and Cool Daddy needs to give up naps and tv. I know, it sounds awful, right?! Nonetheless it needs to be done.

This is the official “warning” that I may not be around for awhile. I’ll try to get at least one post up a week…but no promises. If anything my posts may all turn into a bunch of boring…”here’s the junk that we organized this week” posts. Doesn’t that sound like fun?!

The biggest change for those of you who are fellow bloggers is that I probably won’t be reading/commenting on your blogs for the next month or so. I read way too many blogs as it is and I just can’t keep up with all of them right now. I’m not unsubscribing…I’m just taking a break. The more you comment on my blog, the more likely I’ll stop by yours…because your link will be right there and I’ll stop by to return the favor. Otherwise, you probably won’t hear from me until May. If I get the time I plan on posting a “shout out” link post to my favorite blogs that I comment on regularly.

I’m going to keep this post pinned to the top of the blog for awhile. If I do post something new I’ll add a link within this post for those of you who are too lazy to scroll down 😉

  1. Oh, I will miss you — but I definitely understand! I’ve taken breaks myself, but I don’t think I’ve gone longer than a month. I hope you get everything done and that I’ll still see you every once in awhile! You’re one of my new favorite blogs! (PS – I’m coming home to Pittsburgh in July sometime — maybe we can actually meet up IRL!)

  3. I hope you are able to get the occasional post up. I totally look forward to the “here’s the junk that we organized this week” posts! I can certainly understand needing to take some time off to take care of real life. Good luck getting all clean and organized!! 🙂

  4. I totally could have written this post, down to the “ever since my FL vacation in January”. 🙂 I just can’t seem to find enough time in any day to do all the things I need to. Enjoy your break!

  5. Wow woman. Good for you in taking a break, we all need it. I always marvel at your blog and your bloggy ways. I’m always like how does she do it all. I actually came on here to send you a message to ask you how much time you spend on your blog because I’ve watched as it’s ballooned into the greatness that it is as well as how popular it is and what a great bloggy friend you are to other bloggers, it’s mindboggling to think how you can do all of that and still be a mom and wife and you! So the break is beyond understandable. Take it easy, catch up on stuff IRL and then come back to us! 🙂

  7. i would love and truly appreciate posts which include pictures of the clutter b/c that would make me feel better about my own life. right now i’m on the couch with a baby trampoline to my left, a school bus CLIMBING TOY in front, and a playhouse to my right plus 93750573 toys everywhere. so yeah, misery loves company!

  8. I could have written this post! Talk about clutter…my house is full of it, and it is not hidden. I have needed to take a bloggy break for a while now to focus on my real life too, and every time I say I’m going to do it, I don’t end up doing it. I took a couple weeks off due to my father’s passing, and I’m just slowly making my way back now. I don’t think I will ever get caught up. But oh well. I have finally come to the realization that I will do what I can do on my blog, and I’m not going to stress over it. I have not had much time for reading blogs in the past couple of months, so I totally get where you’re coming from.

Enjoy your break. Come back when you can. Real life should always come first. We don’t need mind clutter, now do we?

    Happy Easter!

  9. Like previous commenters–this could have been written by me! There is so much to do around the house it is overwhelming some days. I’m just lazier than you. 🙂 Good luck with your break! Hopefully, it will be a quick clean-up.
