What’s going on here?

It seems like I abandoned my blog. I kinda have for awhile. I’ve been trying to figure out where I want to go with this blog for awhile now. Every time it grows it is very exciting, but then I also feel pressure to put more time into it that I just don’t have. Consequently that takes all of the fun out of it since I’m blogging primarily as a hobby.

FOCUS
I’ve been looking at my most popular posts and the search terms that bring people to this blog. It seems as though they’re visiting for the creative family fun stuff and not for the awkward posts where I ramble on about myself. I haven’t had the time or the inspiration lately to put up any new holiday posts and when the mood has struck me to blog about myself, it just doesn’t seem like it fits anymore. I’m now going to focus this blog’s content entirely on “helping you find creative ways to have fun and make memories with your family all year-long”. That means birthdays, holidays, traditions, family fun, and creative ways to make memories and celebrate every day. Woo to the hoo! I’m still going to be taking most of the summer off from this blog and hope to come back strong in the fall. In the meantime make sure that you’re following me on Facebook and Pinterest where I’m often sharing creative ideas from other bloggers.

NEW “HUMOR”(?) BLOG
I’ve started a second blog. The kid-centric, family-fun stuff will remain here at Coolest Family on the Block, but if you want nonsense, rambling, and “humor” (depending on your definition of humor) you’ll find that over at my new me-centered blog, I Make Myself the Queen. You can also “like” I Make Myself the Queen on Facebook.
Pointless. Sarcastic. A giant waste of your time. Read the nonsensical ramblings of the self-proclaimed Queen of Random.
I Make Myself the Queen…and the peasants rejoice!

VLOGS
I’ve begun vlogging regularly. Vlog is just a fancy word for video. If you’d like to follow my vlogs you’ll want to subscribe to my YouTube channel. I also post all of my videos on my Vlog Magic page and to the IMMTQ Facebook Page
Here is the trailer explaining my YouTube channel and both of my blogs. (Video here)

LOCAL
If you follow my blog and you’re in my local area (Beaver County, PA or the Greater Pittsburgh Area), I’ve started a Facebook Page just for local stuff. You can also check my “Local” tab at the top of my blog. I will likely no longer post any local stuff directly to the blog that gets sent to email subscribers so you’ll want to “like” the new page on Facebook for updates.

ADS
Apparently ads have always shown up randomly on my blog, and honestly, I had no idea because they don’t show up for me when I’m logged in as admin. I was asked to join the WordAds program and once I found out that they put ads on my blog anyway, I decided to accept for now. I have no control over what ads they put up or where they are at. I do not personally endorse any of the products or companies advertised here. I’m hoping that they will be family friendly, but if you see any ad that you find offensive please take a screenshot and email it to me.

FEEDBACK
As always, I’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to send me ideas, suggestions, comments, critiques, and concerns. You can comment here, on my Facebook pages, or email me.

Wordless Wednesday: Two Lines

So last week this happened…

You can’t see it in the picture, but there’s actually a very faint second line on the test I took on May 27.

But in case you need more proof…

Brand new Cool Baby coming to a blog near you in February 2012!

(In preparation of my impending morning sickness I am recruiting Guest Bloggers for June and July. Please check this page and contact me if you’re interested!)

I Need a Blogcation

If you haven’t noticed, things have been a little slow around here the past week. Well, the problem is, you see, that I actually have a real life (sorta)…and I’ve been a little busy. I said that I’d never catch up after my trip to FL in January, and while I’ve been posting steadily…that’s turned out to be true. I’m so behind on things.

If you didn’t catch it on The Giant To Do List or my 101 Things in 1001 Days…my house is a mess. I have so much to do and so little time (and energy, and motivation) to do it. The clutter (while mostly hidden behind closed doors no one goes into) is starting to create mental clutter…which makes for one tired, stressed out, mommy (and is not the best for blogging either). I haven’t been sleeping well lately. I’ve struggled with insomnia through the years and had a few really bad nights last week. On top of this Adaline is still struggling with severe diaper rash and constipation issues. So, things haven’t been exactly fun or “cool” around the Cool House lately.

Cool Daddy and I are finally sick of the mess and we just have to do something about it. All of our spare time has to be devoted to conquering said mess…and it’s going to take a long time. This means that I’ll need to give up blogging (or at least reading blogs) and Cool Daddy needs to give up naps and tv. I know, it sounds awful, right?! Nonetheless it needs to be done.

This is the official “warning” that I may not be around for awhile. I’ll try to get at least one post up a week…but no promises. If anything my posts may all turn into a bunch of boring…”here’s the junk that we organized this week” posts. Doesn’t that sound like fun?!

The biggest change for those of you who are fellow bloggers is that I probably won’t be reading/commenting on your blogs for the next month or so. I read way too many blogs as it is and I just can’t keep up with all of them right now. I’m not unsubscribing…I’m just taking a break. The more you comment on my blog, the more likely I’ll stop by yours…because your link will be right there and I’ll stop by to return the favor. Otherwise, you probably won’t hear from me until May. If I get the time I plan on posting a “shout out” link post to my favorite blogs that I comment on regularly.

I’m going to keep this post pinned to the top of the blog for awhile. If I do post something new I’ll add a link within this post for those of you who are too lazy to scroll down 😉

Oh where, oh where has Cool Mama gone?

Have you been hearing crickets around here lately? I can’t hear them over the voices…but I thought maybe you could hear them.

Yeah, there hasn’t been much going on around here lately.

We took a trip to FL which I didn’t tell you about because
1. We were going there to surprise my grandparents for their 60th wedding anniversary and I didn’t want the surprise to leak out.
2. I didn’t really think I should announce to the general public that my house would be empty for 10 days.
3. It’s my blog and I can do what I want 😉

I was really looking forward to this trip. Adaline, Cool Daddy, and I were going to be going with my mother, sister, brother-in-law, and nephew as well. I had visions of sleeping in and sitting around the vacation villa writing blog posts and editing photos to my little heart’s content while Adaline played with her cousin and was supervised by the four other adults present.

BUT…things didn’t quite work out like that. It’s a long story (as most of my stories are) and I can’t guarantee that it’s the least bit interesting…but again, this is my blog and I can do what I want. Therefore I have decided to sentence you to read the riveting tale of our trip to FL. I’ve broken down my long story into four posts (yes, it’s that long) and I will be presenting to you the “but” of our trip to FL tomorrow and next week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The anticipation will make it that much more exciting. Or have an opposite effect and give you plenty of time to decide you don’t care to read parts 2, 3, or 82. Keep in mind that this 4-part story is the short version. I know that makes you sad because this means I’ve obviously left out many-an-exciting detail and your life will now be empty and void of laughter. I apologize.

Other than that I mentioned here that I’m going to be taking a bloggy break for the month of January, so don’t be surprised if you don’t see me around much until February. I have big, (un)exciting plans for the blog and I’m really trying to get my act together over here on this end. In the meantime I hope that you’ll enjoy my but!

I have the flu :(

Yeah, I have the flu. I woke up sick on New Year’s Eve, swollen sore throat, ear, head, and body aches, and now I also have a mild cough and stuffy/runny nose and lightheadedness. Yippy! It’s taking all of my brain power to type this out in proper English. Between the cold and the medicine, I’m pretty out of it.
Updated: I’m feeling much better. Still sick, still stuffy, still coughing…but better
Update 2: (01/20/2011) I’m all better except the cough is still showing up at random times. Otherwise I’m a-okay! Thanks everyone for your concern 🙂

I’m going to be taking a blogging break. Not because of the flu, that was just coincidental. I have some other things that need my attention so I’m planning on backing off of the blog for the whole month of January and jumping back in during February. There will still be some posts here and there that I’ll pre-schedule this week if I’m well enough to get my act together. So continue to read, revisit your favorite posts, look at old ones you’ve never seen before…or not. I’m too sick to care, really.
But it would be nice to come back to lots of lovely comments in February 🙂

Have a nice January, everybody…and I’ll see you on Groundhog Day!

Don’t forget to vote for Adaline in the Spooked by Santa Photo Contest everyday until 01/09/2011! Thanks! (We didn’t win 😦 Thanks for voting!)

Because I like to let you know when I’m slacking off…

So, I’m writing this post to tell you that I’m not going to be writing a post. Does that make sense? I’ve had a very busy week and I’m really playing catch up right now. There’s work going on behind the scenes that you don’t know about. I’d like to tell you that it’s very exciting, but I know how lying has worked out for me in the past.

Anywho, I’m going to be spending the next few days replying to all of the wonderful comments that you all have been leaving on the blog. I love me some comments, so please, keep them coming. You can not over-comment, unless you’re spamming me, which just isn’t nice. For shame. I’ve added “Recent Comments” to my sidebar, so if you’re a blogger your link will be in my sidebar every time you comment on my blog. It’s great exposure so you’ll definitely want to comment often so that you can snatch up those 3 loyal readers that I have 😉

If you’re a blogger I’m going to be spending some time reading your blogs and commenting. I’ve been trying to keep up with reading/commenting on all of the Goose and WordPress Tribe members and the Mommy’s Piggy Tales and Young Adult Years members. I’d like to get a chance to read all of the Happiness posts in the Blog it Forward Blog Hop as well…but that’s a lot of reading to do. And even though it ended in September I’d also like to go back and read/comment on all of the 4 Moms Open House posts which is also going to take a sweet forever. Like I said, I’m a little behind…so a comment on my blog will increase the chances that I’ll make it around to your blog to read and comment. In fact, you can leave me a link to a post you’d like me to read. Family friendly, please.

If you’re not a blogger, then go and get a blog and make a post and come back and let me know so that I can comment on it. Just kidding! Still, the comments are greatly appreciated. Read and comment. Even if it’s just to say “I was here” and how you found me. Also, subscribing is very important…so check out all of the ways that you can follow me in the sidebar to the right.

I’m also going to be taking a little “me” time to go around and enter some giveaways because, well, Mama likes to win some free stuff. I just don’t always have the time to enter them and I’m going to make a little time this week. Oooo, I hope I win something, or everything! If you’re a blogger with a giveaway going on right now, leave me a link 🙂

I’m still “tweaking” my blog. I’m trying to improve it in any way that I can think of, so please feel free to critique! I’m open to comments, suggestions, recommendations, and advice (whether you’re a blogger or not). Let me know what you like and what you don’t like. Any design or navigation issues? What can you tell me about the content? What would you like to see more of or less of? I’m a people-pleaser…but only on the internet 😉

In upcoming blog-related news, I actually do have a few posts that you can anticipate depending on when I have the time to write them.
+As always I’ll be posting my Mommy’s Piggy Tales on Thursday (2nd grade this week) and Young Adult Years on Monday (not sure yet, but something that went down between 1998-2001).
+This weekend hopefully I’ll be posting a Halloween-related post each day as part of the Canon Rebel giveaway hosted by The SITS Girls.
+I have 2 new “Festival of Festivals” posts coming up soon where you can read about our visits to Hozak Farms and Triple B Farms.
+On Sunday I threw CoolDaddy his awesome 30th Birthday Party. You don’t want to miss this post once it’s up!

And that’s about it. So I’m off to reply, read, comment, tweak, and more, all while doing my mommy thang. Meanwhile, you should be smothering me with lots of comment-love and subscribing to my blog and following me on Facebook and Twitter. My desperation is pathetic, I know, but can you blame me? After all, I hear tell that I have no friends 😉

See you in a few days!
