Guest Posting and Duplicate Content
Here are a few articles that came up when searching for “why duplicate content is bad for blogs”.
*Why is Duplicate Content Bad @ Infinity Arts
”A site’s rankings can drop dramatically. Search engines were designed to basically crawl, analyze and index each page of a web site so duplicate content can confuse and create more work for it.”
“…make sure that only 100% unique new content gets put on your page or website.”
*Why Duplicate Content is Bad for Your Site and SEO @ Daily Blogma
”This is a surprisingly common mistake on many websites and it can be extremely detrimental to your site’s trust factor and overall user-experience. Both of these factors have a strong effect on your site’s rank within the search engines, so duplicate pages can negatively affect your SEO as well.”
*Why is Duplicate Content Bad? @ Quick Online Tips:
”Well, it could wipe one of your website’s pages off the Google map. The problem that Google runs into is that they cannot determine which page is best, so they are forced to guess.”
*Deftly Dealing with Duplicate Content @ Google Webmaster Central:
”Our users typically want to see a diverse cross-section of unique content when they do searches. In contrast, they’re understandably annoyed when they see substantially the same content within a set of search results.”
Please note that if you are guest posting on Coolest Family on the Block I prefer that all content be original. This means that it’s never been posted on the internet before and you will not publish it on the internet after it is published on Coolest Family on the Block. If you do decide to republish this content on your blog or another website, please let me know so that I can remove your original guest post from my blog.
I do not wish to “own” your content. If for some reason you would like to publish your content in print form (or ebook?), that would be acceptable. It’s only duplicate internet content that I’m concerned with.
Your guest post will be linked back to your blog, will include your name, and a byline that you write about yourself will be included at the bottom of your guest post. I agree to always credit you and never to remove your name/link from your post. I do not wish to take credit for your work or to pass it off as my own.
It is completely acceptable to reuse photos that you have posted elsewhere if you own them.
It is completely acceptable to link to your guest posts as many times as you like on as many websites as you like.
It is completely acceptable to post an excerpt from your guest post on your blog or another website linking back to the original guest post.
It is completely acceptable to take the concept of your guest post and completely rewrite it and rework it into a new post.
(Example: Perhaps you wrote with more humor for my blog and decided to use a more professional tone on your own.)
