It’s my Blogoversary! Coolest Family on the Block is a year old! Yay 🙂 The down side? I don’t think I can call myself a newbie anymore. I must now blame all of my mistakes on my incompetence rather than ignorance. *Sigh* Growing up sucks.
So, like, do you remember that time that I was attacked by a moth, or how about when I forgot that it was my SITS Girls feature day, or that time that I told you about my long-lost love and how a tv show broke my heart, or when Adaline growled at her Grandma, or when Adaline sassed me, and do you remember when my mom viciously destroyed a beloved doll from my childhood, or when I reminisced about some of my favorite tv shows, and surely you remember that time my husband painted the porch, and the night that I got arrested and changed my name to David.
I wish that I had something really deep or elaborate to say right now about how much this blog means to me or how much it means to you and how it’s helped me to become a better person or some junk like that…but who am I kidding? I’m just surprised that I’ve stuck with it and even more surprised that it’s become successful (?). I’m not really sure what’s “good” in the blog world, and I’m sure that it’s probably bad taste to talk about your hits and traffic or whatever, but I’m looking at my steady rise of hits each month as a sign that things are going well.
In the past year I’ve published 263 posts and received 1,746 comments (although admittedly about 40% are my own since I try to reply to comments often), I’ve had 39,105 hits and I have 44 WordPress and 62 Feedburner subscribers. My busiest day was April 1 when I received 784 hits (576 from this post alone) and my most popular post continues to be Adaline’s 1st Birthday Party with over 6,000 hits to date.
Here are my Top 10 Posts so far:
*Adaline’s 1st Birthday Party – Pink and Green Polka Dots and Cupcakes
*Free Dr. Seuss Fonts (links)
*Open House: Adaline’s Nursery
*10 Easy Dr. Seuss Snacks
*30+ April Fools Pranks to Play on Your Kids! (links)
*Hot Air Balloon Crafts and Snacks (links)
*Open House: Laundry Room
*Open House: Master Bedroom
*Dear Santa: Part 3 Paper for Writing a Letter to Santa
*My letter to Santa 1984
So what does the above list tell me about my visitors? Well, they like a good party, love them some Dr. Seuss, are kinda messed up and like to play pranks on their kids ;), dig writing letters to Santa, and are creepy stalkers that like to look at pictures of my house.
If you’re a newer reader to my blog and are now fearing that you’ve missed out on some super awesome posts in the past…fear not! I will be posting a link list of every single post that I’ve written up to this point. Excessive? Um, well, have we met? I tend to be a tad excessive…and obsessive.
I’d also like to tell you that I’ve got all of these big plans for the blog, but I really don’t. I’m just hoping that as time goes on I’ll learn to better manage my blogging time so that I can get you better posts in a more timely fashion…but with a new little one coming in February I can’t make any promises.
As always, I’m open to critique so please let me know what you think in the comments. Is there something you’d like to see me change? Is the blog easy to navigate? Would you like to see more/less posts on a particular topic? Would you like me to start vlogging more often because the sight of my unwashed hair makes you feel better about yourself?
I can’t end this post without a shout out to my loyal readers. I think there are a few of you out there that actually read my blog more often than my mom…so thanks 😉 I really do appreciate your visits and your comments and I hope you’ll keep coming back for more (and bring a friend!).
