Jenn’s 25th Birthday 2004

(a.k.a. Happy Birthday to me!)

I don’t remember anything about my actual birthday in 2004. Maybe it’s because I was so busy and had some pretty significant life changes right before my birthday. Two months before my 25th birthday Cool Daddy and I moved out of our apartment and into our house that we live in now.
One month before my 25th birthday I fell in love 🙂
The fuzzy little fella on the right is my Muppet. We brought him home and he became my furry little pride and joy.

The dog on the left is Kasper, my sister’s dog. The doctors recommend she get an animal to take care of after her accident because it would be good therapy. Kasper is 4 years old in the photo and Muppet is around 4 months old.
We weren’t even looking for a dog, but the moment that I held him (he let me cradle him like a baby!) and he licked my nose…I knew he was meant to be mine. Little did I know at the time that he would be a great source of comfort to me in the years ahead as Cool Daddy and I struggled with infertility. He’s the most cuddly, friendly dog in the world and is every bit my little furbaby. I couldn’t have asked for a better spontaneous one-month-early birthday present!

(Oh. And I also got my hair cut like Peter Pan.)

Jenn’s 24th Birthday 2003

(a.k.a. Happy Birthday to me!)

No party this year 😦 Cool Daddy and I got married a few months before my birthday. I don’t remember much about my birthday that year except that my husband got me a paper shredder and I thought that was the best present ever. I also remember that same year we threw together a surprise “party” at our apartment for my sister’s birthday.

Here we are on our honeymoon.
This will give you an idea of the height difference between Cool Daddy and I.
And yes, we’re wearing matching outfits!  They have Disney characters surfing on them and my hat has Mickey ears on the front. (It’s riveting details like these that keep you coming back to read my blog day after day.  You’re not the only one.  There’s at least two other people that can’t get enough of this either.)

Other than our wedding and honeymoon I don’t have any other photos from 2003. Then a pretty serious photo drought continues until late 2005 when I finally get a digital camera.

Jenn’s 23rd Birthday 2002

(a.k.a. Happy Birthday to me!)

I did not have a party for my 23rd birthday.
On my birthday Cool Daddy and I went to get our engagement photo taken.

Look how young and shiny and pretty we were.

I’m sure that we also went out to eat or something, but neither of us remember. It was a very busy time for us planning the wedding and writing out all of those checks…one can tend to forget details watching their bank account dwindle! (But the wedding sure was pretty!)

Jenn’s 22nd Birthday 2001

(a.k.a. Happy Birthday to me!)

For my 22nd Birthday Cool Daddy and I had planned a trip to Florida to visit my grandparents. We were supposed to fly down a few weeks before my birthday, but then 9/11 happened. We were able to get our plane tickets refunded and we drove to Florida instead. We were there for almost two weeks.

Here’s a little sample of what went down.

Here we are at WDW Animal Kingdom.
This is one of my favorite pictures of us.

At Disney Hollywood Studios (MGM Studios at the time) I tried this Grumpy hat on in one of the stores. I asked Cool Daddy to take my picture. He did and then he just walked off without telling me. I stood there like that for the longest time waiting for him to take the picture. He was a few isles over laughing at me. Oh, you silly, silly man. Little did you know how many times I would embarrass you in public by singing, dancing, carrying on, and calling attention to myself when you’re trying to be inconspicuous.
Who’s laughing now, buddy?

At the Magic Kingdom we were over by Cinderella’s well and I was pestering Cool Daddy to take another 100 photos of me. I saw a bunny and got really excited (Who knows why…I’ve seen them before. I think it was just the idea of a “wild” bunny living in Disney World. I bet it talks. And sings.). A custodian was nearby sweeping up. He smiled at me and all of my weird adorable childlike excitement, then he gave me a Cinderella sticker and told me, “You know that’s a Disney bunny…not just any other bunny. It’s special.” Then he winked and went on his way. I put the sticker on my shirt and I’m pretty sure that Cool Daddy laughed and rolled his eyes at all of the nonsense.

While at Universal Islands of Adventure I saw The Cat In The Hat just hanging out all by himself. His back was turned to me and I ran up to him and screamed “The Cat in the Hat!” and he jumped. Not an “I’m in character, oh you startled me” jump, more like a “I think I need a giant litter box now, crazy lady, can you take it down a notch or 12?!” kinda jump. I got my picture taken with him, because it’s been a life-long dream. And then I went home and crossed it off my bucket list. Once I get to hug Big Bird and Snuffleupagus, and sing a duet with Kermit the Frog I’ll be all set.

At Old Town we went to one of my favorite places (Instant Ancestors) and had this taken:

Then we had this drawn:

(I couldn’t get the whole 11×14 picture to scan into the computer because it was too big!)

On my actual birthday Cool Daddy made plans for us to go see Cirque Du Soleil: La Nouba. It was awesome…we both loved it!

There was a cake for me too, and it looks like I was singing Happy Birthday to myself again. I seem to remember the cake being Red Velvet. I’m not sure why because I’ve only had Red Velvet a handful of times in my whole life. I always pick chocolate.

Jenn’s 21st Birthday 2000

Celebrating 30 Years in 30 Days!

(a.k.a. Happy Birthday to me!)

Almost a month before my 21st birthday my sister was in a near fatal car accident (read about it here). She was in rehabilitation on my birthday and my mom threw a little party for me right there at the rehab center.  My mom had limited resources since she was living at the rehab center with my sister (which is over an hour away from our home), but I still had a pretty awesome party.  My grandma and aunt from Florida happened to be there because they were up visiting my sister.

A Baskin Robbins ice cream cake…yum!
There just happened to be a Baskin Robbins right down the road from the rehab center.

Some of the gifts pictured above
– A Mickey Mouse bathrobe that I still use almost every day
– A diamond bracelet from my mom- Godiva chocolates (Woohoo!)
– A princess picture frame with a vacation photo of me and Cool Daddy
– A bouquet of flowers
– A MST3K (Mystery Science Theater 3000) ball cap with Crow on it (um, awesome), but you can’t really see it in the picture 😦
My sister also got one with Tom Servo on it!
-It’s not pictured here, but my mom also got me a bar of soap that had a plastic cow inside of it.  I don’t know why I found this so amusing, but I did.  I was physched when I finally got the cow out of the soap.
-Cool Daddy and I had been dating for 9 months at this point. There isn’t a picture of it here, but he gave me the prettiest sapphire ring. Once my sister started talking again (the following month) she kept asking me if I was engaged.

The best birthday gift was that my sister continued to get better and make more progress every day. It was pretty hard when it seemed like she didn’t know who I was. But soon enough she’d recognize me and start using my name again. It was a memorable birthday for many reasons. If only birthday memories came with an actual piece of cake…because I could really go for some of that yummy ice cream cake right now!

Jenn’s 20th Birthday 1999

(a.k.a. Happy Birthday to me!)

Another birthday without party, without memories, without words.
I know that we’re all sad about it, but let’s try to put on a brave face.
Here I am at 20:

There WILL be a party post tomorrow!
I know that you won’t be able to sleep tonight with all of the excitement, but try to get some rest anyway 😉
